Schelhaas Family Puppies

We remove the dew claws when the puppies are very young. All puppies are wormed at 2, 4, and 6 weeks of age. At 6 weeks they are taken to the vet for a well-puppy check so we know they are all healthy. They get their first shots at that time too, using TruCan DAPPi.

Care

The puppies nurse from their mother for about the first five weeks of their life, then they start to wean onto puppy food. We feed them Purina Puppy Chow Complete, in the blue bag, which can be found at places like Menards, Ace, Lewis, Walmart and Fleet Farm. This is a transition starter food and puppies will need to change to a “Large Breed” puppy food which they should be on till they are 1 year old. We use Diamond Puppy for our growing dogs- its a great food and we recommend it!

We keep the puppies and mom in our new building which we built in 2023. It is insulated, heated, and cooled so they are comfortable in any weather. Mom has a chance to get out and exercise while the puppies stay safely in the whelping box until they are old enough to join her outside. Puppies are well socialized with exposure to people of all ages! They are also exposed to different textures and sounds! We spend time with our pups multiple times per day because we want our puppies to be the best!

 

Microchipping

With the new year 2026, we have started microchipping our puppies with AKC reunite! We want to give families another sense of security when getting a puppy from us! We want your puppies to be easily reunited with their families if they get separated for some reason in the future! Each puppy will come with a ID number, a collar tag, and instructions on how to register them! There is a 1-time fee- lifetime protection for $29.95 ($22.95 online). Labrador puppies and Goldador puppies are $1000, Golden Retriever puppies are $1100. Our Goldendoodles are $1500. We have now added English Cream Golden Retrievers and their price is $2500.  All Labs and Golden Retrievers come with limited AKC registration. Full Registration is possible for an additional charge and needs to be mentioned when placing a deposit. We require a $100 deposit to reserve a puppy and picking order is "first come, first serve". The deposit is refundable until puppies are 4 weeks of age or transferable if you do not find the puppy you want and want to wait for another litter.
